INTRODUCTION
English is today the world's most important link language for communication among people from different parts of the world, commerce, sciences and accessing information on the Internet.
Proficiency in English is therefore for your personal and career development as it gives you a competitive edge over others. It is important in the workplace, when traveling, socializing or communicating in the real world. It can help you to study better, earn more money, get promotion and gain respect of your family or friends.
This course provides academic English as well as business English components to ensure that the students are fully equipped with English knowledge and skills for educational studies and employment purposes. This course focuses on communications skills (vocabulary, listening and speaking skills) and educational study skills (improve vocabulary building, reading and writing skills).

We aim:
to equip candidates with English proficiency provide a solid English foundation;
to prepare candidates to interact in real world situations;
to enhance reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities;
to increase candidates ' confidence in conversing in English language;
to be part of the pool of intellectual resource for global business communities;
to sharpen the talent for business or academic excellence.
ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed on arrival and placement of students at each level will depend on the result s of the placement test. |

Successful completion of this course will depend on fulfilling the minimum attendance requirements and the results of a system of continuous assessment and a final examination. |

Students who fail are required to repeat the same level for another term . (Fees have to be paid for this additional term.) payment apply. |
STRUCTURE AND LEVEL GUIDE
There are 3 levels in the Diploma in Academic English Language Proficiency Programme, they are as follows:
| Basic English (E1) |
Have limited knowledge of English but have no confidence of using it. Can make conversations whichare simple but face problems when constructing
sentences and expressing themselves.

| Intermediate English (E2) |
Students are able to deal with daily situations confidently but facing problems with more complex situations. At times unsure how to express their ideas. |
| Advance English (E3) |
Confident in dealing with everyday situations with little difficulty; In complex situations, capable of expressing their ideas. |
At all the 3 levels mentioned above; Grammar will be an important component and will continue to be taught. This will provide students with a thorough grounding with an emphasis on how it is to be applied. Besides, this will also enhance their foundation in English which will be beneficial to them now and in the future. Students are also encouraged to buy a Dictionary so that they will develop a habit of referring to it when they come across new or difficult words.
PROGRESSION TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Students pass obtain not less than 65% before they can move on from one level to the next; (E1 to E2 to E3). Should they fail to qualify for the next level, the student must repeat of the level concerned. A student can only repeat each level twice . In the event the student is unable to pass even after the second attempt, he/ she will have to withdraw from the course.
AWARD OF DIPLOMA
Lincoln School of Management will issue the Diploma only after the student completes all the 3 levels, ie with marks not less than 65% at each level.
TARGET STUDENTS AND COURSE ADMISSION/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This programme is directed at students with the entry qualification of Middle / High School
equivalent and would like to precede their tertiary education in English.
